Every school has a school council-a group focused on helping all students succeed.
School councils are groups of parents, community representatives, teaching and non-teaching employees, students and the school principal. Through the active participation of parents, school councils work to improve student achievement and enhance the accountability of the education system to parents.
Why join us on school council?
Involvement in school council is a meaningful, hands-on way to have a direct, positive impact on your child's educational experience. Research shows that when parents are involved in their child's education, the level of student achievement increases.
When are Coldwater/Moonstone Council Meetings?
Coldwater/Moonstone School Council meetings are held on the first Monday of every month from 5pm to 7pm at Coldwater Public School, 33 Gray St.in Coldwater. All parents are welcome to attend school council meetings. We offer a very warm and welcoming environment where everyone has a voice.
Boost your school council's effectiveness
School council members are elected to represent the school community. School council isn't the location to address individual concerns. School councils discuss broader topics, like the School Learning Plan, new programs or initiatives, student well-being, student achievement, and school-wide fundraising activities.
Learn more to improve your effectiveness
The Parent Involvement Committee runs an annual orientation event for school council members. This is a chance to get to know your Parent Involvement Committee representative, meet other school council members, gather important information and ask questions.
